Mission

For its annual Leadership Day, ELIA, the operator of Belgium's electricity transmission grid, wanted a gamified activity that would speak to an audience made up mostly of engineers. Through VO Event, we scripted and developed a tailor-made group experience, rooted in ELIA's business realities and its "Road32" transformation plan.

Combine strategic content, intellectual challenge, fun and team cohesion, and make sure the game directly feeds the message: the data generated during the session fuels the event's closing speech.

Target audience

ELIA's managers, executives and leaders gathered for the Leadership Day: a demanding audience of experts, to be drawn into an experience that is both serious and playful.

Delivery

Implementation

An experience played across around a hundred tables of 8 people. Each team receives a crisis scenario inspired by ELIA's daily reality (grid management, integration of renewables, data centre demand, consumption peaks…). Using table tools (print) and an iPad, teams make successive decisions, solve puzzles and contribute to a collective reflection. On the technical side: deployment and orchestration of more than 115 tablets simultaneously, with real-time data collection and restitution for the wrap-up.

Creative approach

A digital board game augmented with print supports, in an escape game spirit: logical puzzles, group decisions and narrative tension rooted in the company's real challenges. Gamification serves the substance, never "game for the sake of game", so that every mechanic serves the transformation.

Results

Project delivered for the Leadership Day of 4 June 2026, praised by the client and the organiser for the quality of the game and the smoothness of the collaboration. Quiz and "sentiment" data fed back to nourish the closing of the event.
